Abstract

The interpretation of Bell Beakers (BB) represents a long-term archaeological problem. Contrary to the traditional migration theory there is a new hypothesis about the significance of the main parts of BB as prestige goods. The authors applied neutron activation analysis in order to determine the origin of the individual forms of BB pottery ware. The results of the analysis proved that the pottery is of local provenance or that it was exchanged over short distances.
